ELA CİNDORUK

HAVING RECEIVED HER BACHELOR OF ARTS INDUSTRIAL DESIGN DEGREE AT MIDDLE EAST TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, SHE LATER STUDIED JEWELRY AND METALS AT PARSONS’ SCHOOL OF DESIGN IN NEW YORK BETWEEN 1986-1988. ELA CINDORUK IS THE CURRENT PARTNER OF JEWELRY STUDIO AND GALLERY, WHICH SHE CO-FOUNDED WITH NAZAN PAK IN 1993. HER WORKS WERE EXHIBITED IN SOLO AND COLLECTIVE EXPOSITIONS BOTH LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. SHE ALSO LECTURED IN ISTANBUL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY INDUSTRIAL DESIGN DEPARTMENT (1999- 2005), AND ISTANBUL BILGI UNIVERSITY DESIGN CULTURE AND MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (2000-2013).

ZARIFE

ZARIFE IS THE PRODUCT OF MY LONG YEARS OF INTEREST IN EMBROIDERY, WHICH IS OUR TRADITIONAL FORM OF DECORATION. MEANING ELEGANT IN TURKISH, ZARIFE TEA GLASS AND ITS SAUCER ARE DESIGN TO REPRESENT ELEGANCE AS THE NAME SUGGESTS. THE SET IS DECORATED USING TRADITIONAL DECORATING TECHNIQUES LIKE CUTTING, GILDING AND PAINTING.

DOODLE

I CREATED ASYMMETRICAL FORMS BY TRANSFERRING MY COMPLETELY IMPROVISED SKETCHES ON PAPER ONTO A 3D FORMAT. I INTENDED TO CREATE A NOVEL IMPRESSION WITH THESE FORMS BY SHAPING THEM INTO CRYSTAL BOWLS AND CANDLEHOLDERS, WHICH ARE DECORATED WITH TRADITIONAL CUTTING AND GILDING METHODS.
