BURCU BÜYÜKÜNAL

BURCU BÜYÜKÜNAL GRADUATED FROM ISTANBUL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS DESIGN DEPARTMENT IN 2003, AND STARTED TO WORK FOR ELA CINDORUK AND NAZAN PAK JEWELRY DESIGN STUDIOTHE SAME YEAR. IN 2006, SHE RECEIVED THE FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP, AND OBTAINED HER MASTER’S DEGREE IN METAL FROM STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT NEW PLATZ.

SHE FOUNDED MADEN CONTEMPORARY JEWELRY STUDIO IN 2011 WITH HER PARTNER SELEN ÖZUS, AND SHE IS CURRENTLY DESIGNING UNDER HER OWN BRAND, AND TEACHING COURSES BOTH AT HER WORKSHOP AND IN VARIOUS UNIVERSITIES.

DEM TEA GLASS

DEM TEA GLASS REFERS TO THE FACT THAT TURKISH TEA IS MADE UP OF TWO COMPONENTS: THE DEM- THE STRONG BREWED TEA, AND HOT WATER. IT HIGHLIGHTS THE BOTTOM PART OF THE GLASS WHERE YOU POUR THE BREWED TEA.

KESME BOWL

“KESME” -CUT- AS A TECHNIQUE MEANS CUTTING THE SURFACE TO FORM PATTERNS, YET I WAS SO INSPIRED BY THE NAME THAT I CREATED A BOWL FORMED SECTION, AND POSITIONED THE CUT PATTERN RIGHT THERE.
